What is FOD?
As shown in a factory filter after the IMS bearing
has failed, foreign object debris carried in the oil
will cause damage throughout the engine. Simply
replacing the failed part will certainly lead to
another failure.
Proper pre-qualification involves identifying
engines not suitable for IMS bearing replacement.
