It's better, the clutch pump is a simple thing.. There are two pumps, one just under the clutch pedal and there is another one inside the transmission. When I changed my clutch, I had the same problem of noise and also lose pedal travel before the clutch really engages.. Some bleeding solved the problem 100%. Try bleeding. Waz
Squeak Noise Clutchreported fixed
Same situation. High clutch engagement and very stiff. About a month later, it started to slip. Had the clutch replaced ($1100 installed), and that fixed everything. It's like a new car now.
adjusting clutch pedal engagement pointreported fixed
996 C4. Was very annoying and loud enough to be embarrassing with the windows down. After two visits to the OPC they got it fixed. Initially they replaced the clutch plate, but that made no difference. On the second visit they replaced the clutch cables and that solved the issue. All under warranty and no problems to date.

I win!!! My clutch squeak is louder and higher pitched. My attempt at a WD-40 fix didn't help anything. Any general guidance on how much replacing the release arm costs through an Indy?
Clutch squeak?!unresolved
Drive one with a new clutch or just test drive a newer 997 and you should be able to tell the difference. When my clutch was replaced in my 996 last year, the pedal was very light and engaged right at the top of the pedal. It did still stiffen a little after a month or 2 of break in. It was still noticeably a lot lighter than any other car I drove. After about a week of driving it dai
Why is clutch pedal pressure so hard?unresolved
vice manual quote 350 TU (or 3 hours 50 minutes) but it didn't help me. The Porsche service department I use is very aggressive at making the sale; 8 hours for clutch, $950 to change cracked coolant tank and the quoted me 12 hours to install the M030 suspension kit which took me 10 hours to do and I never done it before!

When I test drove my '00 C2, there was this "ping" when the clutch pedal went all the way down, very high pitched, sounded like an electronic beep almost. Is THAT caused by this spring thingy??
Improved Clutch Action Dramaticallysuggestion
Was the crack from the pedal area or from the clutch area? When my clutch booster spring snapped, I heard a very loud pop at the pedal area and the clutch didn't feel much different (it was always hard). After the spring was replaced, the clutch is MUCH lighter and smoother like I got a new clutch. I think my old spring had lost it's power way before it broke so the clutch had always been hard. BTW, it should
Heard a crack and now clutch pedal has gone "soft"?suggestion
I have a '00 C2 cab and my clutch is new and it's so light and smooth compared to what it's used to be. But my friend's '06 997S felt so heavy in comparison, so it's not consistent with others here. I guess it's all depends on the car you drive and how the clutch was installed/setup??? My friend did a PPI at RAC and they did not find anything wrong with his clutch, still good...

99611691102EDIT: I realized mine is a 2004C4S, so I don't know if that makes part numbers different from yours!? I also used the Sachs kit (clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing), but from AutoAtlanta. 99911349040This is what I had found: OLD RMS: 999 113 490 40 NEW RMS: 997 101 212 01 I have records of the clutch being changed on my car at 13 000km (under warranty?!). At that same time, RMS 999 113 490 40 was installed under warranty too.... this is back in 2003. If ever the transmission comes out I would definetly install the new RMS which is ~$30 at the dealer.
