I had this same problem. Remove rear brake discs and clean,lubricate and adjust the handbrake mechanism inside the brake disc. That solved my problem.

I have adjusted the parking brake - turn the adjuster until the drum wouldn't turn then slacken it by 5 clicks and also the parking brake lever ( slacken off cable then pull lever up by 2 clicks and tension the cable until the drum just starts to rub). I have checked that when the lever is off, there is no tension on the lever acting on the shoes. I am at loss what else

My parking brake in my new to me 996TT pulls almost vertical before it will hold. I want to try and adjust to 3-4 clicks. Can you get to the cables without removing console completely? I've got the factory CF unit so I don't want to do any more than required to minimize potential damage to console. Thanks.

Hi there! I�m trying to adjust my handbrake because I had to fully pull the lever for it to do anything, which was a bit annoying. But it doesn�t seem to work� so I�ve jacked up the car, took off the rear wheels and released and loosened the hand brake cable in the center console. I�m now trying to adjust the screw through the wheel nut hole with a flat screwdriver, but nothing happens.

I am in the process of replacing my rear brakes and would like to adjust the parking brake to ensure it is adjusted correctly. Under the console, there are two nuts at the turnbuckle that I cannot get to move. The cable does not have tension on it. I believe I should move the aft-most nut first and it should rotate ccw when viewed from aft to front. Thoughts?
