After my key became "sticky" last year I replaced the ignition switch (the black plastic part) with a NAPA replacement for $9 an half an hour of my time. This fixed that problem completely and was fairly simple to do. This morning when I turned the car on the key stayed in the Ignition position and did not return to the ON position as usual. After the engine fired as quickly as always the starter stopped spinning and everythi

I recently replaced my ignition switch due to intermittent (but never stranding) no response from turning the key. That fixed my seemingly similar issue. Indeed an easy swap. I have my old switch to see if there is a way to maintain it (clean the wiping electrical contact), but just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

ing happens, other than the dash voltmeter moving slightly. So still not fully understanding the system. Makes me think its one of two things: I installed the ignition switch wrong if the start lock relay actually should not function (click) when key is turned to on, but only when turned to start position. Or.the starter is bad Is this logical?

I replaced my ignition switch with a URO one. Was on car for 4 days. Worked fine. Decided to replace again with the audi/porsche part. Replaced worked fine. 5 years later (5000 km. not 50000 km) , car would not start. Air bag light too. I kept resetting the air bag light. I changed the ignition switch to the URO one. Still not starting. I gave up. Had car towed to porsche specialist and

After turning off, cannot start again for 2 - 3 minutes, after door lights come on!!!unresolved

Have had a problem with my ignition switch as previously posted. Key turned too far clockwise and AC would not work. Turn key back slightly and all worked fine. Tried the DIY but failed miserably. Indy wants to replace the entire lock mechanism...not just the switch. Thoughts?

y is. And I haven't had any problems for some time. Maybe it helps that I'm keeping a trickle charger on the car now. Another thing, related or not, is that my ignition switch was balky when I got the car, hard to turn to start the car. Sometimes when cold it would take minutes to ease it to the start position at which time the car would start normally. I purchased a new switch, common issue apparently. However, that too has resolved and I haven't needed to install the new part. Clues? Maybe. Try driving your car 45 min or more a

QUESTION: My ignition switch failed on my '99 996 with 43k miles. I have trouble taking the key in and out of the ignition. The A/C and the windshield wipers do not work when the engine is running, and when I maneuver the key out of the ignition, the odomoter, speedometer, and clock display remains on. How do I know if I need to replace just the Ignition Swtich, for the Electrical Port
