Similar problem as the one I had. The driver's side window wasn't dropping the 1/4" when you opened the door or closed it. I tried replacing the microswitch, but no joy. When I replaced the door latch mechanism, that solved the problem.
Boxster door window and light problemreported fixed
Did mine last week in 996. I changed door handle micro switch ($60) first as thought that was the issue, wasn’t ended up changing window regulator($400) that fixed it. ‘what I read from research is if window drops when you pull handle and open door then when u release it goes up again while door open, it’s the door micro switch as it cant tell when door is open or closed. If it won’t drop at all it’s the regulator.

I had same problem and replaced the lock mechanism and microswitch but it did not fix. Local mechanic rolled window down halfway and pulled upwards on glass which moved up fairly easily. He said this showed the regulator needed changed. I put a new one in and voila!, it was fixed.
Window not coming down when opening the doorunresolved
e: Well, I tried removing the regulator, cleaning it and lubing it. This did not fix the problem. I then removed the door lock mechanism and found that the the microswitch which gets actuated by the cam in the door that latches onto the body of the car when the door closes was worn. The throw on the plunger in this switch is only a couple of mm. So, a little wearing on that plunger makes it so that it no longer contacts firmly when actuated. Using an ohm meter, I found that there was still ~50 ohms of resistance when the swit

e. Just a little of that white stuff on the circuit board can cause issues with imo... If imo looks good/cleans up good and problems still are there, I'd try a door latch assembly first before sending out imo unit for more comprehensive testing. IMHO its worth a chance to try and change out the door latch/switch mechanism. I've seen it do similar things as you're experiencing. Probably less expensive and faster than taking out the imo/dme and sending it out to ECU DR. and being down for a week or 2. These parts are hard to t

The probability of both microswitches going out at the same time is very unlikely. What is more likely is that the cable in the Bowden tube has stretched just enough that even though the motor is pulling the cable the 1/2" that it needs to, the slack is such that the window is not being pulled down. You can test this by after you open the door, push the window down by hand the 1/2" that the m
