Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i just read on pistonheads that it might be possible to disengage the 4WD on a C4S by clicking the handbrake on one notch: can anyone confirm this or is it wishful thinking? if it isn't, i'd be tempted to try it the next time i'm on a track to see compare and contrast the difference between 2WD and 4WD....

POST 3Original post

Sounds as if you could do some damage to the handbrake. I wouldn't do this if I were you. As for the effect on any warranty or your insurance if you have an accident ... does not bear thinking about.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

as i suspected tbh! i wonder if it would be possible for porsche to put a feature in on their 4WD 911s whereby you could 'disable' the 4WD with a button push depending on what kind of handling you felt like that day....

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well, i was thinking that the first click on the hand brake of every other car i've owned does nothing apart from make a light on the dash switch on anyway, it's apparently pointless so no need to even risk it

POST 6Original post

I believe that works on Haldex cars...the Audi S3s and R32 Golfs etc with the Hladex controlled centre clutch definately do something when the handbrake is activated - can't remember if it's a complete disconnection of torque to the rear, or just a fixed split...I think it stops rear drive completely.

POST 7Original post

I believe it does work on the Gen 2 997 but not earlier cars.[ ]

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

got this reply on pistonheads... "True, but only on a PTM car. So 997 Turbo or Gen 2 997 C4 or C4S"

POST 9Original post

There's an explanation <HERE> Play the video - it's quite nice. Trouble is, I'm wishing my life away waiting for them to reach my price bracket. I had my mind set on a 997T Tip as my next car (some while yet), but now it looks like I might have to wait even longer for a Gen 2 PDK. [ ]

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

interesting, but omg, i'm not sure if he man's voice in the video could possibly be any more annoying to listen to though
