Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This last winter, I had to get gas and the car had some snow and ice on it. When the guy opened the gas door (flap) something must have broken. The door doesn't really shut and stay shut. The spring is still operational but, I would expect the door to more or less click shut. The way it is now, it closes but is probably 1/8" proud of the fender. Is there some kind of catch or latch that broke?

POST 2Original post

I have some knowledge of how the fuel door operates. I just went through the fuel door on our car. When the car is unlocked the door will flip open. When the car is locked a pin is driven into a plastic piece ( black triangle with a slot for the pin to slide into when you lock the doors. There is also a little guide that the pin aligns through to lock the fuel door. If your spring is bent and the door fails to close it will never latch till the door is re-positioned.
