So we all know it'll come with manual transmission, great. But this article says it'll be 3.8. If so, it'll be disappointing. 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 To Come With Manual Option And More - Geeky Gadgets So what is it going to be in the end? And will we know end of this month in Paris Auto Show?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It is an interesting question and maybe a dilemma for Porsche . There are reports of premature valve train wear (cams and rockers) in the 3.8. I know one owner who had the top end rebuild and others have been reported. So my guess has been they will go to the 4.0 in order to reduce the 9k redline but keep the current or slightly higher power level. Although it's unclear if that will help with the wear. Most of the problems are on cars that have been driven on track. And if they go to 4.0 in the GT3 what do they do for the RS since they have to differentiate the models? And then there were some remarks from AP awhile back about not focusing on hp but more attention on weight reduction. But the media is always focused on the headline numbers for hp. Perhaps a 4.0, MT option, weight reduction with composite fenders, improved aero. A unique color would be nice too. Can't wait to see.
Is there any chance for a 2017? It would need to be available now and the regular 911 just showed up earlier this year as a 2017? Right? So aren't they likely looking at 2018 at the earliest? I don't know how they will top the 991 GT3s 475hp other than going to the 4.0. The 997.1 to 997.2 GT3 had the typical 20hp bump.
GT3 4.0 RS 4.2 is what I've heard through the grape vine. Hopefully we find out soon enough.
