Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The part numbers for 996 handbrake cables are different for model years -2000 and 2001- 996 424 141 00 996 424 141 10 Does anyone know if there are actually meaningful differences between the parts...? There seems to be a real shortage of -2000 cables at the moment. Only one OPC in London is apparently showing a single cable in stock and Porsche cant seem to give a ETA on orders. Various aftermarket suppliers also don't apparently carry any stock of factory cables or even OEM equivalent parts suppliers

POST 2Original post

I think the difference is where they enter the handbrake drum but I'm not sure what the difference would be. Might be worth giving these a shout https://speedycables.com/ they can custom make cables

POST 3Original post

Aren't the 2 metal tubes the cables travel up into the car different lengths, thus making the cable sheaths different lengths?
