Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have had the PSE fitted to my 996 C4S and when I collected from the dealer they gave me back the two original rear silencers. They are 20,000 miles old...and I was wondering (while clearing out the shed...nice)are these worth anything, are they sellable...if so, who to...anybody know....or should I just sling them out? cheers Migration info. POST 2Original post

You would definately get £50 for them I would imagine. Have seen a few sets on ebay. Migration info. Legacy thread was 112776

POST 3Original post

have them modified, and sell them for £250, the mod should cost £25, for new bybass pipes, well worth it, and they will sound better than PSE, this is from experience Migration info. Legacy thread was 112791

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what does the 'mod' include/involve Daz (other than 25 notes) and who does it.....sounds interesting.... cheers Migration info. Legacy thread was 113062

POST 5Original post

It's a simple mod, just involves a simple (for a welder) weld of a bypass pipe. Looks a little like this.... Exhaust mod Migration info. Legacy thread was 113064

POST 11Original post

Dear The Collective View< I'm totally confused, was poised to spend £1500 on the purchase and fitting of an OE PSE. Having today spoken with my Independent Porsche Specialist (Tognola Engineering) he's happy to perform the welding job for me on my current standard exhaust for a fraction of the cost ot PSE was going to cost. I'm at a crossroads! What do I do, save myself a packet and have Tognola carry out the welding or take the plunge with the PSE??????? Someone said further up the welding job sounded better than the PSE By the way my car is a '98 Carrera. Thanks. Migration info. Legacy thread was 114802

POST 12Original post

billy, buy the pipes off ebay for £250, and fit them, sound better than PSE IMO, from experience. boxes that is, 2 and delivery something like 30squid for the modd, I would say make sure the bypass bore pipe they put on is big enough. Migration info. Legacy thread was 114819

POST 13Original post

I've got a new pair of standard rear boxes...I may give the modification route a go, then do some PSE / Modified back to back testing. Migration info. Legacy thread was 114908

POST 14Original post

Would be interesting to see the results of that. I have a set of Gert's RSRs, which are also modified standard boxes, although he seems to have removed at lot of the contents as the new boxes were a lot lighter than the original ones. Migration info. Legacy thread was 114937

POST 15Original post

in my opinion they dont sound as "mean" as the PSE, however a lot cheaper! Migration info. Legacy thread was 114949
