Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just purely out of interest, will the 997 engine lid fit the 996 model? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

No, dimensions and curve are different IIRC. Why are you asking? If it's purely a 997 lid you're after you're out of luck. If you want a 997 wing there are aftermarket companies that have them for a 996 lid... :thumb:

POST 3Original post

There is a firm, and I thought it was Strosek but cant see it on the website, may have missed it though, which offers a 997 visual type engine lid for the 996 Edward

POST 4Original post

No, they don't fit. Why would you want to do that out of interest? IMO the 996 boot lid already looks very similar to the 997. In fact, I have trouble determining a 996 and 997 at the rear, they look very similar.

POST 5Original post

The 997 lid is much less fussy (fewer lines/ridges on it) and therefore should look less dated

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It was simply as a matter of interest. I think the 997 engine lid looks neater, but as you say it doesn't fit. No sure if I am into the whole spoiler look, Its a bit of a hit and miss in my opinion. Looks great on the 996 & 997 GT3, which has and shouts performance, but on a stock Carrera I prefer the 'fast back' Of course all imo. Thanks for the info anyway.
