Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I've posted this question to the Boxster forum and figured since the early 996's are similar to 986's I'd see if anyone here has had a similar problem. This has happened several times while my wife was driving her '99 Boxster (80k miles) home from work. It has the original CDR-220 radio installed. After a few miles, the radio goes quiet and dark, then comes back to life within a few seconds. The second time it happened, the screens above the radio went dim. The subsequent time the screens went dark. So far this has happened about 4 or 5 times. As before everything returns to normal within seconds. I'm suspecting a failing ground, but I'm not sure. I have no idea where to look either. This has only occurs during the afternoon drive home, not in the morning when the car is cold. Other than this, the car runs great. I've searched for this issue here and on other forums and don't see the same problem discussed. I have a Durametric cable but I don't think this is the type of issue that would trigger a code. Does anyone have a clue about the cause? Thanks in advance, John
