I wanted to take a few minutes to say 'Thanks' to Mitch from Woodhouse Porsche in Omaha, NE as well as the rest of the crew there. I stopped by Woodhouse this morning to drop off a 928 that I was considering as an extra car to tinker around with while waiting for the Cayman S. I wanted them to perform a PPI on the car so I could see what kind of shape it was really in. Dwayne and Dan in service were top notch and went over the car with a fine tooth comb. I didn't end up buying it because there were too many issues needing to be addressed, but that didn't dampen my spirits as I was also invited to stay for the Woodhouse premier of the new 911 C4S! Mitch and company made my family feel at home and even introduced me to some of the executives from Porsche that flew in from the event. I believe that one of them when responding to the news that I was the person who put up the Cayman Club website said something to the effect of 'Oh you're the one responsible for that' which I took it he meant in a positive way because we had an extended conversation about Porsches and competitive driving in particular. I managed to snap a few photos so let me put them up here with a few words to go with each: The woman in the foreground is one of the owners of the dealership and as you can see the C4S is still under wraps before the unveiling. Here is Dwayne from service and his girlfriend. I suggested he buy her a fine ladies fitted-t from the Cayman Club store or one of the other fine womens items. This was outside of the dealership where Woodhouse set up a short AutoCross course so we could drive the new 911 C4's with abandon, HOW COOL IS THAT? The picture only shows about 1/3-1/4 of the course. I was actually the first person to drive the course and had an all too brief blast doing so. I've never been to another launch event where you actually got to DRIVE the car being launched. Hats off to Woodhouse! What's this? Just a one of a kind paint to sample Carrera GT belonging to the owner. I believe the color was called 'Ash White', very sharp and some unique options on the car as well, for example the owner did not want the yellow calipers so he had them painted black by Porsche - for $8,500!!! I also snapped a close up of the wheels. Look familiar? VERY similar to the painted wheel option offered on the Cayman S! If I could order this option on the Cayman S currently I would have, very sharp IMHO. Here's MITCH! Remember our sources in Spain? One of them was Mitch who was able to send photos from the event and upon his return. Mitch goes by the username Woodhouse here on the Cayman Club site, drop him a line and say hello, or make him real happy and buy a Cayman S from him! Last, but not least, the new C4S Cab was unveiled and in fact this car was purchased on the spot by someone in attendance, I'm assuming for the sticker of $105K or thereabouts. Very sharp car and already flying off the showroom floor! Once again I'd like to thank Mitch and everyone at Woodhouse, I'm sure I'll see them again at another upcoming event and quite possibly our Club Race coming up next spring.

And how does the 997 C4S drive compared to your Boxster S?
Geez I didn't have THAT much time in the car to make up my mind about it. Directional change is not as quick, that was the most evident thing, had more power, but also felt heavier, but again, not enough seat time to do any sort of in-depth evaluation. I like flogging any car that isn't mine around an auto cross course. Can't beat that! /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/shades_smile.gif
Thanks K-Man-S, but I was waiting to see a picture of you. Thanks again for your work on this site. I am glad you got the recognition you deserve from Porsche.
Woodhouse took a pic of me after the drive maybe Mitch will post it...
Great post K-man S Don't give up on finding a great 928.......I have owned three of them and still have my mint '90 GT.......once you find a good one that is well sorted and in proper condition, you will find that they are a spectacular drive and reliable drive! Let me know if I can help in any way.
Thanks for the wheel picture. You guys may think I'm crazy, but I postponed my order so I could get that option (XD9) for the standard CaymanS wheel. Probably be a Jan/Feb build with Apr/May deliver, but I had to have that and a couple of other options that just weren't going to be available until after Jan 01.
DaveC- yeah you're crazy, I couldn't stand anymore wait time. But you're right, the stock cayman wheels painted white on a white car would look KILLER! K-ManS, dude thanks for the in depth reporting, felt like I was there without having to dress up! (I haven't dressed or shaved since I found the CaymanClub)
K-Man, You sure are doing a service for all of us with this site. Your photos and report are fantastic. I really do like the white painted wheels on the GT, but couldn't help but notice how awesome those 19' Carrera classics look on the C4S! Thanks Again, Russ
Ok now you are starting to scare me... /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/omg_smile.gif
The evening was a huge success, and I'm glad K-Man S was able to attend! It was indeed a pleasure meeting the man behind this great website. The information exchanged on this site is wonderful, and very up to date. Ken really has his finger on the pulse of the Cayman...great job! Your access to information is great and your passion to keep this site going strong is unmatched. The driving course was set up by 3 PCNA executives who flew into Omaha for this event. It was quite intense, highlighting the braking and cornering of the C4. Everyone whom attended the event had the opportunity to drive the C4, it was really enjoyable for all guests! Thanks again....and yes I would be delighted to sell any one of you a Cayman S if you haven't already placed your order....the launch party will be a 'must attend event.' Best regards, Mitch Schneringer, Porsche of Omaha
BTW: The Carrera GT is a paint to sample in Sand White, which is a color offered on the Cayenne. It's a 'soft' white, w/ a warm hue.
dont get to drive the car on launch night in the uk/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/thumbs_down.gif
