Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How do, I thought I'd introduce myself properly after lurking for several years and not saying much. I'm Simeon (@beresd on Instagram) and this is my 2001 996 C2. I have had the car for 6 years and what a car to drive! It's without doubt the best thing I have ever driven. My caveat being it's also the first car I've owned. I have always been into cars but said I wouldn't buy a car until I could have what I dreamed of. Being stubborn, I didn't pass my driving test until mid 30s and it took me until I celebrated my 40th year to get Porsche'd up. Living in London for 20 years I could get by sans-911. I bought it at 72k miles after it had spent 4 years in storage so had to spend a few quid on it (suspension, exhaust, brakes blah blah) but now it's a great drive. I smile everytime I set foot in it and ALWAYS take a little look over the shoulder as I walk away. But I think any 911 owner is guilty of doing it... In the years I've had it I've had some great tours around the UK. I DJ at festivals for a bit of fun and it's served me well as my 'Festival Wagon' (no better place to drive 400 mile round trip to Cumbria in a weekend!). I always get funny looks driving into festival car parks rocking the 911. I always thought I'd sort and sell for a 997..but I brought my little one home from the hospital in it so the plan now is to keep, modify and have some adventures with the little one in tow. My Porsche tech has just fitted the airbag deactivator bar and very pleased you can get baby seats for them! It's now a solid 108k (I'm putting on less than 2.5k per year) miles and plans for it include; Caliper refurb Paint correction 70's style decals down the side Ducktail Sort the stereo / speakers (mentioned previously) Centre console removal. Nine Excellence remap.

POST 2Original post

A belated :welcome: to 911uk Simeon. That's some first car.

POST 5Original post

Nice story, welcome mate. Do a bit of DJing myself (on and off for 31 years). What do you play?

POST 6Original post

Hi and welcome, not my first car but took a while to get the £££ together and a big prod to "get one sorted" from SWMBO, think she was sick of hearing me bang on about getting one! And after five years I still look back at it and smile.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I play funk originals. I was into my hip hop in the 90s and after some crate digging realised every track was based on a 70s should or funk sample, so I play the building blocks of hip hop. You'll think 'ahh, Biggie, Wu Tang' but im playing the source material. And thanks for the welcome people.

POST 8Original post

Stuff like this then  Was well into my Hip Hop back in the early 80s. Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, Bambaataa, etc. Then house music came along in the late 80s and Boom!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Exactly! Are you still DJing house?

POST 11Original post

Now that is a very cool back-story - and what an amazing first car. Hope you didn't get stuck too often in muddy festival fields in middle of night / early mornings! What's making you consider the Nine Excellence remap? Quite a big outlay and doesn't seem to be a common path for the 3.4.

POST 12Original post

Still play a bit of house but mostly nu disco and disco edits. Late Nite Tuff Guy, Dr Packer, Greg Wilson, etc. Me, 2 mates and my son. Events we put on are under the name Demented Disco: https://www.facebook.com/dementeddiscoclub/
