Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

While at work today my buddy asked me if Mobil-1 oil will go bad if left in the bottle. I told him that I didn't think so and that i had purchased some on sale a year ago; intending to use it at my next oil change. So, I guess that I am asking this forum....does it matter if the oil sits on the shelf for a year? I wouldn't think it matters but if someone has any experiences? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Unlike beer, oil stays fresh, just as long as the container holding it is in good shape. The only car fluids we need to worry about "age wise" is brake fluid and gas.

POST 3Original post

Oil will stay fresh up to ~5 years. I buy M1 0W-40 buy the quart size cases and organize it in my garage by the date stamp (like milk in the supermarket) -- my wife thinks I'm crazy! I've attached the date code key from ExxonMobil. Regards, paul...
