Not that kind of Escort. I just bought a Escort Passport. I have no idea if they are good radar detectors or not. Iit was the one the store had in stock so it is the one I bought. Anyway on page 7 of the owners manual it says that " A few vehicals including some Porsches have a anti-lacerative coating on the inside of the windshild and that the suction cups will permanently mar this coating" Do I need to get off of my I MAC and run to the garage and save my Cayman's life?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Welcome to the Club! First I wouldn't worry about the protective coating on the interior of the wind shield. This has been discussed on the forum before and the general consensus is no harm will come to your baby. Do a search on "windshield coating" or "anti-lacerative coating" and you will see a lot of discussion on this topic. Escort is the leader in radar detector so your choice should be fine. However, Escort is a sponsor on the Cayman Club and they offer specials for Cayman Club members that are also members of PCA. So register your Cayman here and join PCA and let the rewards begin. See I KNEW I MAC's don't have a search feature... Umm nope, that is in reference to some older Porsches, evidently not a problem for the Cayman. I believe this was discussed in another topic thread about the Escort Group Buy that is currently going on for discounts on all Escort products for PCA Members and perhaps general site members as well at a future date.
I believe you no longer have to worry about the Porsche windshields. If you go to this thread, it should give you the information you need. Just type in the search function, windshields and you should come up with this thread title. Aftermarket Navigation System Mounting Location?

Yes, I asked that question in the Escort group buy thread in the PCA forum. I stuck my suckers to my windshield with no apparent damage. You didn't say what model you purchased. If you are a PCA member you can do the group buy and save cash. Don't forget to buy the hardwire kit though. GM
