I want to mute the radio without manually doing it everytime I start the engine. Mechanic at the dealership told me that it's impossible. Is that so? How do I get the GPS to show me my location without activating route guidance? Again the mechanic told me it's impossible. I don't want to press "confirm" everytime I get into the Navi page. How do I turn off the safety instruction page? Mechanic told me it's impossible. Can anyone help please?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know for a fact that you click the "Map" button to get your current location. You don't need to activate route guidance. Based on that, your mechanic doesn't know the GPS system very well. I don't know about the other two questions.
I'm pretty sure there is no way to turn off the warning page. You have to manually press the button everytime, it's a liability thing. That why when you get into an accident because you were too busy looking at the navi screen, the manufacturer is off the hook.
Mute: How about turning the volume right down and saving the settings? Alternatively, if you have a multifunction wheel, the left hand scroll wheel mutes the radio if you press it. Map: If you press the Map button twice you don't have to confirm.
I don't have multi-function wheel. How do I save the settings? I can't find the relevant instructions in the manual.
 RE: the radio shut off. I too cannot find a way to do actually shut off this function. Frankly, sometimes I just don't want the radio or CD on. Although I love the Porsche, and although I am German, I for the life of me cannot figure out why anyone would design a car in this way. RE the GPS: you can go thru your Navi setup and select "display destination" or "display current location". If you do the later, whenever you enable the map, it will show you where you are regardless of whether you are in the navigation mode or not.
Anyone find an anwer to this? How can I save the radio to be off so it's off the next time I start the car? My ex-BMW did the same thing - it would always be on no matter if I turned it off before. BMW fixed it with an iDrive update, did Porsche design it like this on purpose? Seems silly..
I am not sure if I am following correctly here, but if I shut the radio off, when I start the car next time, the radio is still off. I've never tried turning it all the way down, and checking if it's still "down" when I start next time. Are we talking POWER here, or VOLUME?
