Got into car last night, shut the door , put key into ignition and turned on and BANG, passanger door airbag goes off. What a noise, ears ringing for about 5 min afterwards, and got to admit i was in total shock for about 5 seconds, didn't have a clue where i was or what was happening. Airbag system was checked out at previous service and all ok but still can't believe it happened Obviously now need a new door card and airbag but has anybody heard of this happening before? Time for a phonecall to mr porsche but don't hold out much hope with them wanting to stick their hands in their pockets Gutted!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wow! Sorry to hear that could have given you a heartattack...thank god no-one was in the seat. Definitely contact OPC asap and also notify insurance . Take some pics too insitu. Never heard of that before. :nooo:
Ouch... I've never heard of that happening either! As Chris says, would have been nasty if someone had just got in the passenger seat - especially if they hadn't yet fastened the seatbelt. Your shock is not surprising - the change in air pressure is immense when an airbag goes off: During air-bag deployment tests on static vehicles it is not uncommon for glass to be blown out...
there is a post on rennlist about this.... have a quick search its an ongoing legal battle i believe... he was driving at the time though!
super glad no-one was in the seat, force was enough to blow the door open otherwise i think the glass would have gone. not a noise i'll forget in a hurry more frustrating that i had no warning it was going to happen, no warning lights on to indicate a drop in voltage. still waiting for porsche to get back to me and will check out rennlist tonight when i get home from work, just so glad i wasn't driving, it would have put me off the road cheers for all your replies guys
