My current car is a 1994 6 speed supra. I have carried out a single turbo conversion and its currently putting out about 600bhp. The thing is ive always wanted a 911 and iam seriously considering taking the plunge after xmas. I really want a turbo as i feel the C2 or C4 will feel abit slow compared to the supra Iam right to think this as the supra is abit laggy? Ive got a budget of around 30k and iam slightly concerened that for that money ill be lookin at the bottom end of the turbo market. So do i go for a top end C2 or a bottom end turbo? i do alot of track days so how do they compare on track? and what is the tiptronic like on track?

:welcome: to 911uk.. I think you'll find a C2/C4 a little under powered after a Supra, £30k (if you look around) should get you a 996 TT, nice car very fast and its not all about BHP the torque on the 996 TT makes it move very well. If you are not too worried about colour Northway Porsche have a very nice low mileage 996 TT up at £28,995 - Good luck in the search, feel free to post any cars your thinking of up for advice. Dan
Hi, and :welcome: Pure power output alone dictates a Turbo (ideally with power upgrade), but if you want to do a lot of track days, I'm not sure that a Turbo is the answer unless you want to spend a lot of money sorting out the suspension. Ideally, I would suggest you push your budget a little and try and get a GT3... NA engine gives fantastic throttle response and the handling is so much more track focused I'm sure it will be faster than your Supra when you get the hang of it. If you are going to finance the car, don't forget a GT3 will have a much higher residual value than a Turbo (let alone a Supra or pretty much anything else at that price) so you may be able to add £10k to your budget without increasing monthly payments :?: That will get you into a GT3 at the moment... My history prior to 911 includes a Supra TT and I can guarantee you will be unimpressed with the weedy grunt of any generation C2/C4 although they handle better, contrary to what you might expect, once you are used to them. A 911 Turbo would be very similar in terms of that huge torque spread you are used to and would run rings around the supra in any 'real world' situation I have experienced especially with a little remap - think control rather than hanging on to the wheel for grim death. Can't comment on GT3 and tracking
Id love a gt3 but i really dont think i can stretch another 10k. What are the options i should be looking for in a future car? Did the turbos come with sports exhaust etc? how much of a premium do you have to pay for a car with the x50 pack and is it woth the extra cash?
