Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Howdy, First, I have searched the board, and read both of K-Man S' articles (both excellent, BTW). However, I have a question that I can't find an answer for: Do you remove the snorkle tube in addition to the baffle, or do you just remove the baffle? Has anyone tried comparing removing the snorkle vs leaving it in place? Both of Ken's articles appear to leave the snorkle, but I vaguely remember someone showing a picture of the snorkle out. I'm in the middle of de-snorking (got all the parts out), but need to know how to go before I button it all back up. Also, if you leave the snorkle in place, why is it called "de-snorking"? Shouldn't it be just "de-baffling"? Thanks, Bill

POST 2Original post

The snorkel is left in place in most instances that I have seen.

POST 3Original post

De-Snork is an old Boxster term where the actual snorkel was removed (it was smaller in the 986 days) but these days it stays in, but de-baffle doesn't sound as good I guess..

POST 4Original post

Thanks guys! I'll go put the snork back in. In a way, I guess "de-snork" is a better name than "de-baffle", even if less accurate. Otherwise, you'd have all sorts of bad jokes about removing confusion....
