Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

A friend of mine told me to look for a SB and found some folks at GMGRacing who sell them. Well I got the reply from them as follows "We have found that there is no advantage to installing a strut brace on the Cayman. The design of the front struts and integration into the firewall offers plenty of chassis stiffness"....interesting isnt it? .. kudos to these people for being so honest and straightforward COCO

POST 2Original post

One item I have noticed though is that the Cayman does NOT have the same bracing going from the strut towers to the center dash like the 911's do. If you peel away the plastic it isn't there. Thus I'd reserve judgement on how useful one is until I do some actual testing or someone else does. I think we all assumed we got the same bracing that the 911 got but we didn't, whether or not that means anything I don't know.

POST 3Original post

Strut braces are cheap ($200-300) for the Cayman. That being said, I think a lot of guys are havng a good time driving their cars on the road and at the track with out said braces. Adding an additional brace to a span can't help but stiffen it as long as it doesn't compromise another bracing mechanism (which this wouldn't). So I would guess that a strut brace would help, but the degree to which it makes a difference may not be noticeable. Evo sells a carbon fibre one that comes in different colors -- cool. You then have to open your hood and say, "Hey, look at my cool strut brace!" There is a very limited audience that will GAF.
