Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm stuck. The cam cover hits the exhaust and I can't seem to get it over the variocam solenoid. There are procedures in the factory manual where you take the cams out with the engine in the car, so I suppose you could do it, but I can't figure it out. Any tips?

POST 2Original post

To my knowledge the header has to come off. I know both times I've remove the covers I took them off. First time I broke four header bolts.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Never mind, as soon as I post something, I figure it out. You have to take off the intermediate shaft drive gear off the cam then it will come out.

POST 4Original post

Engine out, one of the first things I did was remove the headers/ exhaust… the muffler brackets were the worst, but all the headers bolts to the block came out perfectly. In any case it looks like you’ve got it figured out! Good luck the rest of the way!
