Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Wanting to book a track day at Bedford, anyone had any issues with a standard 718 GT4? It’s a manual, need to short shift? Thanks Andy

POST 2Original post

100% standard 718 GT4 will be fine. Leave the button alone… it opens valves automatically at higher revs anyway.

Thanks for info, booked to go in early April

I’ve done Bedford in my 718 GT4 PDK with the valves permanently open. No issues https://youtu.be/VuhSVbC0NAI?si=IO2IVXA4w7th7aKa

I don't think you need to worry about a 718 GT4 for noise limits anywhere its so quiet, but that's a good thing.

POST 7Original post

The sound monitor is at the first corner as you leave the pits so just take it easy there. TX.

POST 9Original post

I've done Bedford twice in my manual 22' 718 GT4 Been fine both times with the valves open on the stock system, no lifting for noise monitors at any point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yJbz5r5_H4&t=... Edited by F12DDE on Friday 23 February 16:36 Edited by F12DDE on Tuesday 27th February 08:04

The 718 models are pretty quiet to be honest so you'll be fine. 987/981 are another matter completely though - you'll need to lift in certain sections, especially on cold days. There's a sound monitor just after the first left hander, which is a shame, as if you're in a loud car it can stop you from attacking the chicane. Also, the small straight before the very tight left hairpin has one too. As above, though, it won't matter in a 718.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
