Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

with more powerful engine, Cayman's the potential to out-perform the 911
Why not add the Z06. About the same HP and peak torque as the Cayman and 911 added together. 0-60 over a second quicker. 0-100 3.5 seconds faster. The 1/4 mile 1.5 seconds and 15-20 mph faster. And over 1/2 a minute quicker at the Nurburging. With 20 laps practice most of the board members in a Z06 could probably beat the fastest Porsche factory driver at Nurburgring in a 997 or 987S. And it splits the difference in price. Maybe raw performance isn't the issue? Maybe most Porsche drivers would actually be quicker and more comfortable on a race track in a Cayman S than a 997, 997S, or Z06 for that matter (well, maybe not quicker than the Z06).. Now a 997S4 may be a different matter. Edited by - DavidNJ on 11/16/2005 11:38:45 PM
FYi some of the automobile mag numbers are not correct, but honestly it doesn't matter I could care less about the silly Cayman vs. 911 stories...
I too could care less about the Cayman vs. 911 stories. Especially the ones about being a 911 wanabe. Frankly, like many others on this site, I could easally afford to buy a car twice the price. The reasons I bought the Cayman S have to do with the performance of a mid-engine car, along with the almost practical design given the Cayman's extra trunk space, and most important, a body design that my wife and I both fell in love with at first sight. No ofense to the 911 folks, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I love the Cayman (obviously). But if I had the money, I would wait for a 997TT. I have driven the 996TT and am in awe of it. I am sure it doesn't have the balance of a Cayman S, but the power and grip is intoxicating. And whilst I think the standard Carrera looks like it isn't for someone my age, the turbo does looks incredible. I am sure the 997 series turbo would also look as nice. Sure I couldn't care less about a standard Carrera, but a turbo would be a different story. In that instance I would take the 911 over the Cayman S.
I have both a 911 Carrera S and a Boxster S and they are two completely different animals. The boxster is my toss around fun car for twisty roads and precision control. My Carrera S is a completely different beast due to its higher horsepower and gearing ratio... it is really just a fast car, but a little quirky in character when it comes to controlling all that power. I've become more comfortable with it over the last few weeks, but I do yearn for a car that I could easily jump into and push to its full potential. I may have to make space for the Cayman S soon!
