Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking at a 2002 online, and there's a good-sized, round on/off button to the left of the radio. Might that be a button for PSM? Otherwise, I can't tell from the description of the car if it has PSM. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

PSM button would be in one of the wings up the side like (as well as shaped the same) as power lock button. The big round hole (same size but on opposite side from cigar lighter) is for intermittent wipers OEM. However, some will add a second power point there or wire it for something else (like the OBC hack, radar detector, homelink, etc....). Post a link or a picture if you can for more details.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think you've hit the nail on the head, since it is the same size but on the opposite side from the cigar lighter. So it looks like this car doesn't have PSM (darn!). Here's the link to the ad I'm looking at..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Boxster-36k-Miiles-Sport-Package-Heated-Seats-17-Whls-/120605645486?pt=US_Cars_Trucks

POST 4Original post

I wouldn't let the lack of PSM on this car deter you...it's over rated as a driver's aid. Yes, it does allow some slip angle, but will intervene at anything greater than I believe about 5% (which most enthusiasts dislike).

Answer found: Button is an after-market switch for an i-Pod installation.
