Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I know Porsche paints these silver as an option, but I was thinking what about body color? I mocked this up in a drawing program to show one side with body color the other just black. What does everyone think of possibly painting these body color? Yes? No?

POST 2Original post

I agree - this is one area where something needs to happen - I saw pictures of cars with the aluminum look - that or body colour. On new BMWs the same area is mesh painted silver - looks very nice. Maybe the 'plug' fellows will have it as a core replacement option making for a short down time.

POST 3Original post

I like the painted slats on the yellow. So I guess black is the standard? Hummm this will takesome thought. I will have to get some pics on my photoshop and try some combos. What is the standard on the side slats, both vertical and the horizontal ones in the back? Russ

POST 4Original post

IMO I would have to say it looks better and more aggressive left black....

POST 5Original post

I know I don't like them in silver but I do think theylook pretty good painted.......I'd say go for it.

POST 6Original post

I like the black front air slats as well... reminds of me of turbo 911!!!

POST 7Original post

Iguess I will have to see the car in person, because I cannot hardly see the black slats in the photos. I guess that is OK but they do look nice highlighted. Russ

POST 8Original post

In actual fact, when I was choosing my final spec at the weekend the dealer was telling me about this. Apparently the standard spec is with those front lips painted in silver. It's a no-cost option to have them in body-colour. The reason for the silver is that they're going to release a sport body pack soon that will also have the side vents in silver, plus a few other cosmetic tweaks (a bit like on a boxster S i believe). I chose to have mine in body colour (seal grey) but am now wondering whether the silver looks quite cool...

POST 9Original post

I think it kind of depends on the color of the car. Like your speed yellow I think it looks good painted. Say guards red it might look better just being black. Maybe some of the blues as well left black. Then say on the black exterior the aluminum look may look alright. I think it depends on the color plus seeing it person might help alot too.

POST 10Original post

Personally I think that painting them would look a lot nicer. I mean, look at the picture. This brings out the design of the car a lot more. Actually, it kind of looks even more like a 997

POST 11Original post

The car would look alot better without those foglights.<input type="image" src="/UserFiles/dsfdsf.jpg" />

POST 12Original post

I dunno, at first I didn't like the foglights and grills but now I think they give the car character. The pic you've posted looks too much like a Porche Turbo/Ferrari 360/430/Lambo Gallardo, etc. that style has been done already, I'd like something new... I'm sure for a price you could remove them though and some owners probably will, nothing wrong with that either...

POST 13Original post

Markwm, that photoshop looks awesome... makes the cayman look even more menacing w/ those huge air scoops (a la carrera gt and turbo 911). It is a familiar look though. To each his own.

POST 14Original post

Doesn't the BMW paint them Titanium, not silver? Agree, fog lights detract from the look. The egg crate in body color with the grill black may work better. P.S. Doesn't the car in to photo corner flat when it is standing still?

POST 15Original post

That's agood thing in my book. The reason I went with basalt black was because it would hide the foglights the best.

POST 17Original post

I like the looks of them painted the yellow. Although I ordered white and think they will look better black. I have to agree as well, that the lights and grilles give the car character. Think there needs to be a way to put a fine mesh behind them though to keep as many rocks and debris out as possible.
