I've owned my turbo for 8 years now and rather than opting to sell it on for a better model, I want to give it another year or so with a new set of wheels on it. And drive it a bit more (It's a garage queen) In my head I think it may freshen up the car and modernise it a bit. It may just be a short term solution for the inevitable. So I'm looking for advice basically. I'm looking at 19" multi spoke wheels, I understand the ride quality may be compromised,it's something I'm willing to accept for the looks. I've been looking at the following: OZ Formula HLT OZ racing Leggera ATS racelight Standard wheel dimesions: Front: 18x8j ET50 225/40/18 Rear: 18x11j ET45 295/30/18 For those of you who have fitted 19" wheels, have you tried to keep to the same size widths as originals? Alot of the new wheels seem to be 8.5J on a lot of wheels available..is this ok? Rear's has any one dropped to a thinner width to say 10J? Does this compromise the ride? I assume I would need to keep to the same/similar rolling circumference, are there any tolerances I should not go over, say 5% In terms of the original offset I know a few have added spacers to get the standard wheel to look a bit better. What are the preferred measurements here; 5-7mm front, 15-17mm rear? This will likely dictate the new offset now doubt, otherwise I'll likely need spacers too with the new wheels. Colour wise I'm still undecided, Silver, Black or Bronze. It's a Polar Silver car. Feel free to pop up pics of your silver Turbo's/4S's with 19" aftermarket wheels to give me some ideas. Thanks

Obviously not a turbo however I have fitted 8.5x19 (Front 35 profiles) & 9.5x19 (Rear 30 profiles) and do experience a small amount of rubbing on the front arch liners. I think 8" would have been ideal or reducing to a 30 profile tyre. I actually find the ride greatly improved however that's because the tyres that were on the car when I purchased were shot.
Good to know thanks. I guess offset has a lot to do with it too, in terms of rubbing? Love the wheels, and love the bronze. I just don't think the bola wheels have a large width for the rear on the turbo.
To be honest I dropped a bit of a bollock in that i was wrong in what I had fitted as standard! Doh I'm went from 10" x 18" ET65 rears to 9.5" x 19" ET45 resulting in a 13.7mm further poke out at the rear which works really well. The front however went from 7.5" x 18" ET50 to 8.5" x 19" ET45 resulting in a further poke out of 17.7mm. This means they are pretty much flush with the arches which looks good but also moves the wheel around 15mm towards the strut which is my minor problem area. I'm really happy with the wheels and appearance of bronze on silver but as you say I don't think there is a wide enough offering from Bola to suit your turbo.
Did you buy something already, if not, BBS have a nice looking wheel called the CH-R for the 996 Turbo and they recommend: 8.5J 19 ET51 11J 19 ET56 with tyre combinations (with caveats for installation - wheel spacers, etc): 235/35R19 and 305/25R19 235/35R19 and 315/25R19 245/35R19 and 315/25R19 Here are the official TUEV approval documents for reference (in German): http://gutachten.bbs.com/gutachten/ch/ch108_porsche_911_996-turbo.pdf http://gutachten.bbs.com/gutachten/ch/ch111_porsche_911_996-turbo.pdf https://www.elferspot.com/de/magazin/der-996-turbo/
Have a chat with user HSC911, he's been through about 5 sets on his 996 turbo. :thumb:
I used to see a lot of the BBS CH R a few years back in the VW scene and never really liked them but they look absolutely fantastic on the cars above!
