Third day of my conference in the US and I've thought of another Cayman question - productive week! You've decided your ideal spec, but if you could own two Caymans, what would be the spec of that car? I've played it safe with my 'first' Cayman - Arctic and full black leather etc. If I had a second I'd go a bit wild. Here's what I'd consider: - Red, 19' Carrera's,full tan leather, red seat belts - Yellow, 19' Carrera's, full black leather, yellow seat belts, PCCB, yellow interior paint package, sport chrono(there's a pic in the gallary of one and it looks amazing) - Black, 19' Sport Carrera's, full tan leather, Black interior paint package, sport chrono

Good question........so many choicesleft behind...... Black with full Natural Brown Leather and Interior Design Package. GT Silver with Cocoa Leather and Interior Design Package. ........and believe it or not ever since I saw the picture of the Forest Green on Sand version......I'd easily do it also as it is a beautiful / classy combo. All the above would have PCCB (if money no object), sport seats, sport wheel, sport shifter, etc Edited by - Atlas_Croc on 11/16/2005 08:18:26 AM
...went for my ultimate spec first time round: Seal, full terracotta, 19' Sports w Colour Crest, PASM, BiXenon, Sport Heated Seat, Sport Wheel, Auto Climate, BOSE, Mats, Tint, Michelin N3 Xtra Load, NO MONEY on a car like this can't believe some people would hold back just for resale Dean Edited by - V6 TT on 11/16/2005 08:26:29 AM Edited by - V6 TT on 11/16/2005 08:33:54 AM
I would add full leather, all the interior bits painted in speed yellow (still doing that, just later since unavailable from Porsche), sport shifter (again doing that later), yellow belts (again doing that later), PCM, Bose, Phone module, PCCB, sport exhaust (if one becomes available), those 19' carrera sport wheels seen on the black car in Frankfurt. What's that add $20K to my price? /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif
While resale had nothing to do with my final decision, I still didn't want to go all out on mine even though I could have. Why?.......well picture that in about 3 years a revised Cayman will come out with about 310-320HP, maybe even a bigger engine option, even better options, etc. At my point in life a $60-$70k sports car is not the end all.......I plan to keep climbing up the ladder to whatever awaits, and by not loading up on a lot of Porsche options that depreciate at an alarming rate, I will be better poised to make it farther up that ladder.
... makes sense but at 32, for me it is 'the end all' - enjoy whatever roll on next week! Dean
Atlas, You pegged it for me. I keep thinking of what the Cayman might be in 3 years and what kind of performance upgreades will be available. Didn't want to go to crazy this time. Russ
... so you guys are buying a car now thinking about 3 years down the line??? are you mad? you could get knocked over by a bus or bankruptbefore then - jeez, live for today! all this disturbs me a little tbh Dean
I agree with you Dean. I just went for everything I wanted! My car should be completed today. Have emailed the dealer but he is off today. Oh well, I suppose I'll find out tomorrow /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/sad_smile.gif
. . . I just think it's crazy to think of your next car 3 full years down the line before you've got you're *** in this one and enjoyed it! there will always be something better coming out and if I went around thinking and worrying about this I'd never buy or own anything Dean Edited by - V6 TT on 11/16/2005 10:17:32 AM
At this point in my life I have realized that there are much more important things in life than a car. $8K PCCB systems will come and go but family and good friends last a lifetime.I hope everyone here knows how lucky we are to be in the position to even consider this car. 10 years ago I probably wouldn't have blinked an eye at spending a lot more money ona Cayman, today there much more important things in my life to spend the money on.
Dean, I ordered what I could afford, if I added all of those things the car would have gone beyond my means. Many of the items I wanted were also not yet available from Porsche. I wasn't giving any consideration to resale.
I will enjoy my vehicle to the fullest you can count on it, but I am a planner and that is just me. I am always creating tomorrow, never waiting for it to happen. I figure I have a choice, to be a creator of circumstances or a victim. Thinking ahead is how you create them. Aloha Russ

In an ideal world - where someone else paid the bills - I would order exactly the same car and then have RUF drop a 3.8 liter engine in it.
That would be fun- 2 Caymans! My 2nd would be opposite of my first one. First one is Artic/Black and performance options. Second would be red or yellow and all luxury options like Adaptive, PCM, nav, phone, rain sensors, dimming mirrors, park assist, 18", PASM (for the soft mode), Tiptronic,... interior would have to be something radical- maybe white leather.
My first order contained some $$$$$ conscience decesions. If I were to buy a 2nd one, like chrismillion, I would add lots of luxury items, rain sensors, pccb, telelphone setup, navigation...etc. Never thought about what might happen to the Cayman S in the future. Will just keep this one until it quits or gets totalled.
