Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As of today I am the new proud owner of a loaded 1999 Porsche 911 Cabriolet. I just finished negotiating with Porsche of Scottsdale in Arizona and I fly out to pick up this one owner, all service done at this same exact Porsche dealer, car Friday morning from Chicago. Then comes the fun of driving the car 1700 miles back from Phoenix, AZ to Chicago, IL . Here are a few pictures of my impending reason to wake up every morning.

POST 2Original post

Hope you've heard about the serious IMS bearing failure problem on '99 996's. Seriously, nice car. Enjoy it!

POST 3Original post

nice! how many miles? which extras? what price?

POST 4Original post

Congrats!!! You will love that drive. I flew out to Tucson and drove it back to Champaign, Illinois. That was about 1600 miles and it was AMAZING. Good luck and do not stop for ANYTHING in the pan handle of texas, just drive right through. If you do stop, do not watch Deliverance before the trip. Just kidding Texas. No seriously, Do not Stop!

POST 5Original post

Better yet, avoid driving through Texas altogether. I seriously dislike this state... especially the panhandle! Congrats, and I hope you will swap out that four spoke wheel as soon as possible, which will instantly make the interior look five years younger.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Haha, thanks for the advice on the Texas Pan handle She has 80,000 babied miles on her; the car was serviced through the dealer for everything by its original owner. What I found surprising about the car is that it has the Traction control upgrade, which is rare on a non-C4 or turbo. P72 - Design Package - TIP P15 - Power Seat Package P14 - Heated Front Seats Package M6E - Space Grey Floor Mat P49 - Digital Sound Pkg with 490 288 - Headlight Washers 659 - On Board Computer 580 - Non-Smoker Package 551 - Porsche Windstop (Deflector) 692 - Remote CD Changer (6 Disc) It also has -Memory Seats -Cruise control -Litronics -Headlight washers -The upgraded sound system has not only the 6cd changer but also the full upgrade to 11 speakers i believe and the amplifier And many more minor options I haven't decoded yet. My favorite option is the metallic paint to sample Price wise I found a magnificent deal because of the quality of maintenance (the dealer just put over 4k into the car when they took it in on trade, a brand new clutch and flywheel, the 90k service was just done, new suspension, brand new tires with no miles and the list goes on and on.) records and the options/condition of the car. They had her listed for $25,900 and I'm walking out the door for $19,300 including all my taxes for both states, but not including traveling expenses The first few things on my To-Do list are -3 Spoke Steering Wheel -K&N Cold Air Intake -LN IMS Retrofit -Cat back exhaust -New headers with high flow sport cats -Softronic ecu flash all before Christmas, well... maybe not all of them. At least my family will have an idea of what I would like for Christmas so I could work on the car over the winter. This is probably going to be one of the best weekends of my life to date, I'm afraid my face will be stuck in a life long permagrin from the drive back

POST 7Original post

Auffällig !!! I recently crossed over myself! Seriously, go down to your local Farmer's Market and select the biggest Russet Potato you can find. Slip it into the back of your shorts. Just a little primer to help you adjust to the new ride! BTW, it looks too much like a Boxster!... LOL j/k Cheers!

POST 8Original post

Congrats on your buy! A Porsche Boxster with a fatter behind to store some more oomph, that's all it is :P. JK Are you taking I10 or I40? If you want a bit extra fun and aren't in a rush, I'd suggest taking the Devil's pass down to I-10. It is definitely the best road in Arizona and possibly one of the best in the country.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Lil B, I was quite impressed with your find myself. I found a few nice 964s but I wanted something more "modern" so to speak with more creature comforts. Blood, I am somewhat pressed for time and I was originally going to just take I-17 to I-40, but I'm thinking of taking AZ-87 to AZ-260 to I-40, It will cut 50 miles exactly from the trip and there seem to be a few twisties here and there, plus the scenery. 191, Devils Pass or Highway looks breath taking on the map, I really wish I took another day off of work to run it, but last week I was completely unaware of something of that magnitude being right there. Tunnel vision on the car Either way, the trip will be frunk loads of fun

POST 10Original post

That means a net price before tax of under $18K? That seems like an amazing discount coming from a Porsche dealer! Congratulations!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My total taxes were about $750 so around the low 18s....
