I'm about to buy a full Cargraphic system and can't decide between the TUV Sound and the Super Sound versions. Does anyone have a 996 with either exhaust (preferably a GT3 with Super Sound) that I can come and listen to? I'm in Maidenhead but happy to travel.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have Cargraphic silencers, the cars apart at the moment but should be back together in a month or so - which of course may be no use to you.
They are beautifully made John I have a full super sound with 200cell cats on my 997.2 , mine is the valved version 133.4db on loud and 119db on quiet. so neither are suitable for most tracks :thumb:
Standard manifolds, 200 cell cats in an X-pipe, non-valved silencers, 100-102 decibels depending on which marshal is on the meter.
The Supersound are LOUD. I have a full Cargraphic system on my '6GT3, fanimolds, 200cel cats and rear boxes. It must be the 'sound" version. Still fruity but not obnoxiously loud. I love it. Very little difference from standard, inside the cabin. A tiny bit boomy when cruising at 70. But I mean a tiny bit. Unfortunately I'm 350 miles north of you in Northumberland so not much good.
Is it noticeably louder than the standard exhaust at startup and acceleration? I expect the tone, or type of sound, is an improvement over the standard exhaust. Would you agree with that?
I have driven Marky's car. It's not noticeably louder compared to mine (standard exhausts). It's a nice noise (in car), I would say it's got a bit more character. I can't tell you if it's 'an improvement' cos I am biased. Of course I am. I have heard Phil's 997, and it is LOUD. TOO LOUD for me. Gratuitous photo of mine and Marky's:
I haven't ignored the OPs question by the way, we've spoken via PM. This proves how subjective exhaust sound can be. Mine is way louder than standard on cold start and when pushing on. When bimbling through town it's not obnoxious though and almost sounds factory. From in the cabin though it's not much noisier than standard but everything goes on behind you in a 911, so you have to have a stupidly loud exhaust for it to be much louder inside. My Cup filter adds a bit when accelerating hard too. Does it sound better than standard? Of course it does. I can't live with a standard GT3. All you get are rattles and whirring. :hand: As ever though, it's funny how much people's likes and opinions vary. YK (Evenin' mate) tracks his car so wants to stick to standard stuff. I don't have that restriction. I think mine would pass on a noisy day anyway. Super sound is too loud though. That I do agree with. I've really grown to dislike really loud stuff. I've just hunted for an old R1 and made sure I bought a stock one with its original exhaust. You just pee off 9 out of 10 people, with a loud exhaust. The odd petrol head might appreciate it but most people just think 'What a racket".
My what good taste you have. LOL
@Gooner Does that mean I need to get a R1 as well? @Marky Need to meet up and compare notes again when l'm in the northwest :thumb:
For fun only analogue will do for me and others too by the looks. Digital has its place but only for business IMO, literally for me in daily aspects of travel and work.
Yeah we do. This time turn your hearing up grandad. Speak soon mate. :thumb: Gooner, that's exactly how I think. I was going to try a newer bike but as with fun cars, I've absolutely zero interest in traction control this, and driving modes that. Why remove elements of control that make you hone your skills to improve. It's crackers. I'm no driving god but I'm happy to learn for the rest of my days. Why press a button to 'sort it out for you"?. :hand: Great fleet there. The perfect analogue collection. 4xv's were and still are, awesome. They came out just as I passed my Direct access aged 21 and was like 'Have to have one". I had a 4xv for ten years when they were current. I've just bought a 5jj as my mate had one back in the day and I always liked the slightly pointed back end etc. No pics yet as I only moved house two weeks ago and the bike only got delivered the weekend after. I can't think of two better analog experiences on 2 wheels and 4, than an old R1 and a 996 GT3. 8) Sorry for the thread hijack Jack. :thumb:
Yep GT3, 987 & R1 all for the price of an over spec'd, ugly M4 (a 3 series BMW FFS). Anyway, as you say, back to the OPs topic.
No problem, I agree by the way. What I like about the 996.2 GT3 is it was the last without driver's aids; well, if you don't count ABS ...
