Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've notice that both the small side windows on my 2003 Targa seem to have a very slight amount of play on them within the frame. If I push firmly on the glass it moves in about 1 or 2 mm as if its not bedded in correctly. I doubt that this is normal but has anyone else noticed this with Targas or Coupes and what is the best solution for a fix and a reseal? Cheers JB

POST 2Original post

Don't worry, this is normal! Windows are attached to the car with 3 bolts on each corner and further it is hold by the rubber seal around. I was scared shitless when I found the same movement two weeks ago but my indy confirmed the above.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Thanks. That's good to know. Have you seen any evidence of the windows leaking at all?

POST 4Original post

I have no leaks at all. window sits firmly in the rubbers (you can only push them in on the long sides of the window since there is not bolt on these area's.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers for that. Glad to hear there are no leaks from there.

POST 7Original post

As already said it's perfectly normal .. you can get more movement than that if you push hard enough . Targa info here .. probably best to just read the squeak and rattle fixes . http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=116450 Only times i've seen a side window leak is from something like the image below .. a poor fit of the trim with far to long rivets . It's possible for the seal to get jammed up with mud and not drain .. it drains at the front section closest to the door but again .. pretty rare . Wet seatbelt is the usual sign .

Many thanks for that, a very useful link and set of photos.
