Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll be needing some new rear Michelin Pilot Sport N1 rated tyres soon (285 * 30 * eighteen). I've been making some local inquiries (South Wales) and some people are telling me that I won't be able to get the N1 very easily - if at all - and that I'd have to go for the N3's. Unfortunately the guy who used to deal with tyres at OPC Cardiff has gone and he was a mine of information. I'm sure that I'll be able to get them - but has anyone had the same problem and if so (apart from the speed rating) is there a difference in the tread pattern between an N1 and an N3? Thanks. Adrian.

POST 2Original post

I thought the rating was a revised version - so N3 superceeds N2 & N1 for beneficial reasons?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think that you're probably right - but I'd prefer to have the same rating all 'round if possible.

POST 4Original post

Stats007 is right. Why go for old technology when new techno is available? N3 is superior to N1. Do you buy box TVs in preference to flat screens? ~ Maxie :?

POST 5Original post

In some cases old is better (CRTs for contrast for example) - and we all have preferences in tyres choices. I preferred SportContact 2s to 3s for example. So long as have you have matching tyres per axle then I wouldn't worry. Bear in mind tyres deteriorate with age so old stock isn't always a good idea. Try a local tyre dealer - I know mine are nearly always more competitive in price than the big online companies.

POST 6Original post

I recently bought two Michelin PS2 rears and I was surprised to find the best deal was through ATS and I had tried many online and local options. It was only last week and they had a 25% off deal on Michelins.
