Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anybody else had trouble with the LCD on the heater/air con control "bleeding"? I assume the only fix is to get a replacement unit, are these easy to get hold of and simple to change? Cheers

POST 2Original post

I don't think it is too common on UK cars, but I have seen lots of reports on Renntech.org about it. A new unit is over £200+VAT, so it might be worth trying to get a used unit from someone like Porsch-Apart. It's easy to change. Just remove the surround - it unclips - and you'll see 4 screws to release it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks Richard, £200 is a bit steep I think I will give Porscha part a try. Thanks again

POST 4Original post

Did you know the 96-00 Audi A4 has an identical set up but glows Red. I have seen these on Ebay go for £10 (because being a naff old car now) Would tied you over or do my dash mod and have Red as aposed to Orange.

POST 5Original post

Can't remember which forum it was on but there was a detailed DIY description with pics of the audi unit. IIRC it is not an identical match [the audi unit is bigger] so a bit of chopping was required to get the new unit to fit, will try and find it again. TB

POST 6Original post

Yeah the Mid 90's Audi A6 has it too, my mother had one! Looks identical sized panel wise, I believe porsche just Bought it in the porsche ones can be £50 on ebay etc

POST 7Original post

Good point and forgot to mention. You are right, if the unit is in the centre console below the PCM it will require trimming but if it is above the radio in the dash it is the same size. (You will notice in the upper mounted there is a bezel, the Audi unit is the same dimensions as the bezel)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, I will have a look around and see what I can find.
