Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, would anyone be willing to measure the length from bolt hole center to bolt hole center of the tuning fork tension link/caster control arm on the rear of their 996? for reference the front arm is 370mm and I expect the rear is a little longer.

The front and the rear are the same part. I have four old ones, but I dont know which one was taken off the front and which one was taken off the rear.

POST 3Original post

Can confirm, the coffin arms and tuning forks are identical at all 4 corners. Recently refreshed my suspension. Ordered 4 of each. Somewhat related, Porsche appeared to have come out with an ?upgraded? tuning fork design. The length is unchanged. Its slightly thicker at the end where it connects to the coffin arms. Had to buy 4 longer bolts as the old ones were too short.

was that maybe the 997-991 version that needs a thicker coffin arm bushing? Thank you both for the measurement info!

The 997 front LCA have a taller central bushing that requires a wider opening on the fork . So fronts are different that rears on 997. They are all the same length though.

The space between the fork heads are the same. The forks are just thicker. I went with the old design coffin arms cause they looked beefier. Everything came together without any problems. The new coffin arm design looked kinda flimsy to me.

The 'old' coffin arms are castings. The upgraded part is forged.
