Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What's your opinion on the location of the PSE switch? I know stock is on the horsehoe, but I have two blanks behind the ashtray that are listed as alternatives in the installation bulletin. These are pretty handy for access and easy to see while driving (horseshoe switches on left are hidden by the steering wheel for me). This would be a new install, so I have the choice. (And yes, I do want the switch to control the sound on occasion . . .)

POST 2Original post

My experience is that once you put the switch on, you will never turn it off. Mine is on the horse shoe.

good point . .. left or right hand? PS: thanks for replying to such a trivial question!!

POST 6Original post

Keep it stock...left on horseshoe, 2nd down. BTW: mine is factory ordered and that's where it goes.

POST 7Original post

I also put mine on the left in the center. I do use it quite a bit when I have the top down and don't want to attract a lot of attention or want to have a conversation with someone in the car. I found the hardest part of the install getting the wire out of the engine bay. I also didn't use the throttle body as the vacuum source, I just put a T connector in one of the existing vacuum hoses on the right side of the engine bay. Good luck. Kris

Thanks all for the hints and also for the photos! My dealer has done a few of these, so hopefully all will go fine. Going stock except will skip hooking up the speed sensor wire.

POST 9Original post

Here is the write-up from my PSE instal. I hope this helps you with some of the install options. Note where I made the vacuum tap.

Horse shoe , on the left, as it left the factory in mine
