Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What dictates when that light is on and off? I have noticed it on sometimes when there is no one in the seat. However, the other night I was driving somewhere with no one in the seat and the light was not on....is this something I should have checked out? Im going to hook the durametric up, but last time I checked nothing showed up.

POST 2Original post

AFAIK - the light should be off by default... the only time mine comes on is when I first put the key in the ignition and turn it to the first stop, when all the warning lights come on. There's a known glitch when the seat is set to it's furthest-back position against the bulkhead, and then it comes on in error... maybe that what's been going on with you all this time. brad

POST 3Original post

More to what beez said there are a number of trouble shooting tips in your owner's manual that you should check first like the adjustment of the seat mentioned or having objects behind the seats or under the seats or packages on the seat and so forth.

POST 4Original post

What beez and Santa Fe said . . . A bag of groceries or a brief case will turn on the light when the car is running.

POST 5Original post

The light is weight activated. If the weight is over a certain amount but under another amount (I don't have the figures handy) the light activates indicating the airbag has been disabled. The system is designed for a car seat. The weight of a brief case and gym bag will trigger the deactivation of the airbag, however the full weight of an adult will not trigger the deactivation (as it shouldn't). If there is absolutely nothing in the seat then the airbag should be active and the light not on. From your description of how your car is function above, it seems your system is functioning properly.

POST 6Original post

The exclamation error for the seat touching the rear bulkhead is not a glitch, but rather by design. The manual addresses this issue so obviously Porsche knew and designed a sensor for this. From reading it seems that it is a safety issue that has to do with the deployment of the airbag from the side of the seat.

POST 7Original post

Also the Owner's Manual provides a list of air bag conditions that require dealer service.

I suggest every new owner read this: http://www.planet-9.com/faq.php?faq=miscellan#faq_idios

POST 9Original post

ok, that makes sense. I had a CD case on the seat which probably triggered the airbag light. I just think its dumb that with nothing in the seat, the airbag would not be deactivated...because what is the point of the bags going off if there is no one sitting there.

POST 10Original post

It can't hurt, and it can help in a side incursion. In any case, I was doing the bose sub stuff mod a couple days ago (sehr gut!) and just barely brushed the passenger seat and, ding, instantly on came the airbag light. So the potential for finickiness is obvious.

POST 11Original post

i will hijack my own thread and ask what bose sub mod you are speaking of? TIA

I think THIS is what Douzzer was referring to.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
