Yes ladies and gents, its possible. But heed of warning : its boring as .... well.. its boring. 60 miles down in 6th gear, taping the gas pedal gently, 2rpm .. and I took a picture.. word of warning though : its BOOOOOOOOORING . but doable. now who says the 996 tt aint an economical and sensible car ? it was all going well until a M3 showed up and wanted to play along... I resisted for long, like 10 seconds or so. tops gotta love my tt : 15k miles and more than one year after, still surprises me everyday with its power and controllability.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think the title should say 40 mpg not mph .
You should send this to the national press. It should be published on a national basis the a Porsche 996 TT is the most economical and greenest 190MPH supercar on the planet. This should be used as a lever to lower the tax levy to zero. You may need to edit the M3 section though! I only want one even more than "need one cos I'm felling ill" now. Top post!!!!
Wish I had been kicked off the forum now - then I wouldn't have seen this thread :wack: I so nearly bought a TT, but finally bowed to commercial pressures and got my RRS instead... I'm failing miserably to average fourteen mpg, let alone forty ! (Could possibly have something to do with my addiction to the sound of the supercharger on full throttle though... :thumb: )
I managed to get 40mpg on the computer as mentioned sitting at 60mph in France too - that's in the gt3
