Got invited to 991.2 unveiling tonight at my dealer, thought I would share a quick pic (Love the color). http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee450/Teeguzi/IMG_2250.jpg Also found this beauty hiding in the garage (to ensure 981 content); felt like I was cheating on my baby. http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee450/Teeguzi/IMG_2249.jpg Cheers!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I went to the one at my dealer last night as well. I went mostly for the food. I had to pay for a new roof and another semester of tuition earlier in the day, and could no longer afford food. I did talk at length with the Porsche rep from Atlanta that was there. He said to expect the Cayman 718 about 6 months after the Boxster. IOW Nov-Dec timeframe. They had some nice door prizes as well including 6 Porsche Driving Experiences in Atlanta. I got skunked.
Is that "Graphite Blue Metallic"? Looks a bit like primer in the picture; hopefully it's better in person.
The grilles are awful. And the color too . Not shown is the new exhaust location and rear 'wing' which don't look good either. I knew the 991/981 versions were hard to top, and I was right... at least in my view. The new turbo engines were a deal-breaker for me, but glad I don't like them inside or out too, so there's absolutely no temptation to own another Porsche. Hoping the GTS lasts for a long time.
I think it's Miami Blue -- Graphite should be grayer and slightly darker? I know that there is much love in Porsche circles for the light blues (Mexico Blue etc.) but I have never been a big fan of the baby or powder blues. Tied to the competition history, no doubt.. That said, I lusted after Cognac metallic, and I know most would disagree on that. Isn't it great that we have so many choices?
991.2 Rollout at Porsche of the Mainline Last Thursday, I attended the rollout of the 991.2 at Porsche of the Mainline. They do such a great job at these events. It was a blast and included a nice jazz band, food, wine, cocktails, beer and very nice prizes. And of course a ton of Porsches on display. We roll up to the dealership and are greeted by local police with lights on directing traffic into the dealership parking lot. I downshift into first on the approach with PSE babbling and top down.....and give the cop a thumbs up as I turn into the lot. I pull up to the back entrance and was met by valets. (professional Porsche valets). I get out and hand the keys off knowing the guy can drive a manual without even asking and then I walk thru the garage towards the show room....I pass some fabulous classic Porsches on display along my walk. A lot of drinking and socializing....I can't believe how many people I now know across the area that love Porsches too. It was fun. In the middle of the showroom is a 991.2 under wraps. Just one....this is not like Porsche of the Mainline so I knew something was up. About an hour into it....we were directed to look out at West Chester Pike. The dealership is on a hill and overlooks this road with huge windows. An older gentlemen who works there knows I am thrilled and tells me to look down the street. I push my nose against the window and notice the two cop cars are now repositioning at high speed (with lights on) at intersections on either end of the large road. It's nighttime. Traffic stops (it's a busy road). I can only see one of the intersections with the cop stopping traffic. From the other end at a very high speed, a Porsche 991.2 C4S comes screaming by....wow! It was going fast. I mean really fast. In the 3 figures. It turns around at the intersection and comes back flying. It turns into the dealership and pulls right onto the showroom floor. (someone opened the showroom floor doors while I was looking outside). I am staring at the car as it arrives. I turn around and the 991.2 that had been positioned in the showroom was unceremoniously unwrapped and no one even noticed the unveiling because we were all looking a the C4S that just pulled in. I sat in the C4S for about an hour. The car is fantastic. I talked to a couple of SAs afterwards and they said that sales are slow. They don't know why. Kinda sad. I didn't want to tell that if they think this is slow, wait till the 718 rolls out. Ughhh....
Re: 991.2 Rollout at Porsche of the Mainline Main Line Porsche is about a two hour drive from my house. Is it worth the drive? I visit their web site on a regular basis and they have a large number of late model 911s which they seem to sell quickly. I saw a 993 with low miles on their web site a few months ago, and it disappeared rather quickly. My recollection is that the asking price was over $100K.
Re: 991.2 Rollout at Porsche of the Mainline That's a tough question to answer. It depends on why you are visiting. I'm only 24 miles away and the route is really sweet so I like driving it. In 2.5 years, I've been to about 10 events at POTML and they were all very nice. I try to never miss them. I don't go for the free food and beer (although that is nice). I really like talking to them and checking out the cars.
It's all subjective, but I have to disagree with almost all of those points - I actually think the rear grill is a neat throwback to the classic 911's, I like the front bumper treatment, and I really like the sport exhaust placement. I test drove a 991.2 Carrera S at my dealer, and the new turbo motor is awesome - almost 0 lag, but tons of torque and it really sounds like a Porsche flat-6 (I didn't notice much turbo noise). I really love my Cayman, otherwise I would be very tempted to order one - so I do agree that I hope my 981 lasts a long time
Re: 991.2 Rollout at Porsche of the Mainline I have been going to POTML since 2001, actually before the dealership was even open as I was their 1st delivered car. I live in central Jersey so it is a little trip, but I would not go to another Porsche dealer. The staff at POTML are courteous, they have knowledgeable techs, they are trustworthy, caring & most importantly they are just great people. I have purchased 3 new cars from them & will continue to do so.
No door prizes at Carlsen in Redwood City. Just posters.
