Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

call me stupid, but what does that have to do with the headlights??

POST 3Original post

According to the forum, it had more to do with placement than the quality or lack of quality of the ebay hid's

POST 4Original post

it seems as if there is a connection to aftermarket HIDs affecting the ecu and making the rack go ape****************.

POST 5Original post

The problem was that the gentleman mounted the ballast right onto his Lexus' ECU. The high voltage created by the ballast/ transformer can generate an electromagnetic field that can affect the ECU. It's not just aftermarket ballasts that do that. They all do, so it's important where they are placed. I install these (aftermarket HID and LED DRLs) on a regular basis and have never had an issue. http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site_2/TechnoLite_HID.html I recommend installing the ballasts and transformer right onto the headlight assembly. It is far from any of the sensitive electronic components and also allows for easy removal of the headlight. Happy Boxstering, Pedro
