Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I spent some time today with my dealer and the Porsche computer system (that's a story in and of itself) and we came to discover something I suspected, there are 2 different build dates in the Porsche dealers' computer system. As an example with my car the PCNA estimated completion date is 11/11/05, or according to the computer my car has already been built. But I know that's not true. /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif Also in the computer, in a different portion of the order details is another date that I believe was labelled 'PAG completion date' and in my instance I believe that was 12/22/05, in other words the car has not been built yet. So for those who are calling your dealers asking about your car, make sure they give you the PAG completion date since it appears to be more accurate. My car is a December build so it makes sense that the car would be completed in December, not November (as much as I might like that). Additionally, there is no VIN# in the computer for my order. A car that has been completed would have a VIN#, in fact VIN#'s usually get assigned just as a car starts to be built, that's one of the way they track all of the parts for the car as it flows down the assembly line. I don't mean to dose the hopes of anyone here, but wanted to let everyone know how Porsche's computer system works and that there are likely 2 different dates associated with US orders. I have no idea if this applies outside the US. I also checked to see if any new options were available in the computer and I did not spot any, but the list is long so there is some possibility I could have missed one. Hope this helps in some way!

Thanks. That makes more sense. Looks like my Cayman is being built a couple of days earlier than yours on the 19th. I guess you will have the newer car. And if the schedule holds I have the dreaded Monday build...

POST 3Original post

Two things here guys. First, we cannot take delivery until January 14th anyway. So December build, November build, heck first of January build, who cares. As long as it is at the dealers on January 14th it is all the same. Second, Santa Fe, this car is being built in Germany, so Monday builds are not big thing. That only applies to UAW builds here in the states. Most other places, they care about their jobs and have pride in their work. I have never had a problem with a German built car.

POST 4Original post

Actually the car is probably being built in Finland... but yeah...

POST 5Original post

Monday build was a bit tongue in cheek, I know those Finnish workers aren't gonna get in thier beer on Sunday night (at least we never need to look up the proper spelling of 'Uusikaupunki'). Edited by - Santa Fe on 11/18/2005 4:07:59 PM

POST 6Original post

Dealer just told me I'm scheduled for 'production 1st week of December'. I assume that's when they start but I'm going to see if he can tell me the PAG #. I've also asked when he'll have one but haven't heard. The anticipation is killing me!

POST 7Original post

Attention all Cayman Club members, My dealer E-mailed me today (Champion Porsche). They have just recieved the first Cayman S floor model today! This is getting real exciting! Rocket Man

POST 8Original post

My dealer forgot to send their paperwork back to Porsche signed so they don't get a car until they get that signed and sent to Porsche... DOH! They think they'll get one next week...

POST 9Original post

Welcome Costello. My dealer is Braman. Although I live in Michigan I have a place in West Palm. You are going to love this site. What is your build date and what are the specs. We are all interested.

POST 10Original post

Thanks for the updated information. That will put the dealer information into a different light. Now I will have to call and ask more questions of them.

POST 11Original post

I thought they were all to be built in Finland? Re beer and Mondays, I went through the factory in the mid-eighties (when there was only one) and one of the things that surprised us was that the workers break area's had beer dispensers similar to our coin operated pop machines. And they were there every day of the week. No abuse noted and I'm sure not tolereated. In moderation probably healthier than soft drinks.

POST 12Original post

K-Man, That might explain my Dec build being completed on November 30th. My dealer could not explain it. Well if that is the case I would rather know now than on November 30th only to find out the car hasn't even been started. Russ
