Hi guys. I'm considering a 2001 996 tt that's for sale in my area. It's a nice one owner car, totally stock and well documented. I've heard than these cars are very reliable (more than the non turbo 996s) but I would like to know if there's any specific issues I should be aware of. Thanks. Nico

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

One item with the turbo's and GT3's was the cooling system connections are glued together. Yes glued. They can become dislodged and will spill coolant everywhere. The fix is to have the bits welded back together. The problem is that the engine pretty much has to come out to get to all the glued connections. I don't know what that failure rate is. Probably higher in cars driven on the track and in hot locations. Your risk depends on what plans you have for the car. There aren't too many other problems with the cars. They are fantastic machines. Bon chance!

I plan to simply drive it on the road on nice week end days. No track. Merci Tony !
Second gear pop out-check for that. There is a checklist posted on rennlist or 6speedonline. I am sure could find it with a bit of digging. I have a 2001 996TT and it is awesome!!!!

A local car, one owner (a real enthusiast), 100% stock, absolutely all books and records. I'm delighted.
Looks great. Congratulations.
I got the same car. You are going to love it. I can't tell if it is Polor silver like my car or if it's Arctic silver. I just had my car in the shop all winter doing a tune up and the full suspension on it. I brought it home and drove it today for the first time in 3 1/2 months. Lets just say. Holy ****!!!!! The new suspension lowered the car about an inch and the response on the throttle is instant. Car had 70,000 miles on orig plugs and coil pack. So had them do that. Oh and that is a crazy labor intensive job to find out. Back number removal and intercooler removal. Also if you do your struts and springs do you control arm. Want a completely different car. Anyway Enjoy your baby. Hope to see you on the road!!!
