Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a pair of rear Goodyears F1 gs-d3 for my c2 255 40 17 I want to match these with a pair of fronts but I can not find these in 205 50 17 all I can find are 225's. The tyre sites are suggesting that this is the correct tyre size but the manual says 205 and 205's are fitted at present. Question is will 225's be ok on my standard rims? I'm not changing them any time soon but I would like to be ready. This post is not intended to open a debate on N rated issues.

7j I think There is a 7 cast one side of the valve hole and 55 cast at the other. Drivers manual says 7 and I am sure they are standard wheels.

POST 4Original post

7J seems likely, and with a 9J at the back. Some people say that 225 is too wide for a 7J rim. You might get lots of flex as the tyrewall is erm pointing outwards toward the contact patch, if you see what I mean. http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html You also might be introducing more oversteer (in the dry) and maybe understeer (in the wet) with a 225/255 set-up... or you might be fine. And to add to your woes, I've recently had a set of GSD3s (on the Impreza) and they were rubbish. Don't get me wrong; the original GSD3 (of which I had two sets) were superb, but they were constructed differently from the current ones - old ones were Made in Germany, current ones will be Made in China - the chinese sidewalls were so soft, when going round corners the car felt like it was about to lurch off of the road. If I were you, I'd be selling on the GSD3s, and getting something else. Sorry
