Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, found my water and oil mixing problem- cracked heads! Does anyone know if there's an upgraded head for these engines? If I'm going to spend money on this, might as well hop-up the engine if there's a high performance upgrade. If not, is there a good shop to weld and rebuild them? (other than motor meister) 1999 911, 80k miles Any info would be greatly appreciated! Jay

POST 2Original post

Search "Flatsixinnovations" and they can hop up anything on you motor that you might need. or afford.

POST 3Original post

Flat Six is very good but has a long wait time. You might also try Vision Motorsports or UFO in California, they both have a lot experience with M96 engines.

POST 4Original post

No upgraded heads other than good machine work on what you have. Costa Mesa R&D has probably fixed more M96 head cracks than anyone else.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone! I emailed flat six innovations, they were quick to respond but are unwilling to do just headwork, they want $10,000 to do a complete top end. I'll try to contact Vision, UFO, and Costa Mesa tomorrow. R&D - Full voice mailbox and website is over 12 years old, not too sure about that one.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks alfa11, I got a response from "Roland" of Vision, says standard valve jobs are 1,200 and cracked heads are closer to $1,500. Not sure if these prices are reasonable, still looking into it. I will also need someone to finish the assembly of the engine since timing will be lost after pulling the second head off.
