Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hi guys, I am looking at a 2003 tt with the following DME printout, what do you guys think of this? Range 1 65535 177.4h Range 2 1535 172.4h nothing after that operating hours counter 179.6 car has about 5500 miles Not sure why the range 1 number is so high for a low mileage car.

POST 2Original post

Hours vs miles indicates possible stop light racer. Slow average speed yet redlines the engine on downshifts. 65k revs in range 1 seems a lot. Paul

POST 3Original post

The 1535 stage 2 are included in the stage 1 total. 1535 single ignition events is 511 revolutions of the motor. On a 996TT stage 2 is greater than 7250 rpm. 4.25 (ish) seconds of total time at Stage 2. Averaging 30mph is pretty common for a readout report. Does not indicate any unusual driving habits. Unless the cars sees a very percentage of mileage on the HWY the numbers will always be in the 25-35 mph range. Cheers

The guy lives in the city so probably all stop and go city driving. So this is normal? would like to make sure before I try and buy the car. Thanks for the help

POST 5Original post

To put the mph into perspective. I just pulled a report on a 2007 GT3RS. Car has 20,000 miles on it, has seen some track time, has been on a couple of trips down the pacific coast to California from here, etc. Car is not used in the city. Averaging just under 40mph. Many newer cars have displays that will show you average mph on a trip and ongoing bases as part of the OBC. A lot of people are surprised how low the number really is. The one thing I don't like about the 996 over rev reports is that they are only 2 stages. So you don't know if the data is from 7251rpm or 10,000rpm... Stage 1 over revs can occur when one hits the rev limiter. Stage 2 require a missed shift or poorly chosen downshift. Cheers
