POST 1Original post

this might sound like a stupid idea but i was just wondering what everybody else thought of it. My friend told me that the internals of the cayman S werevery strong. He recomended that i get nitrous oxide. What do you guys think if i get it dyno tuned to have perfect air/fuel ratio??? Just a 100shot..

POST 3Original post

The first question you need to ask yourself is 'why?' What are you doing with your car that would make you even consider installing a nitrous kit?

POST 4Original post

My question is always 'Why?' for street racing? If street racing is what you are in to then you chose the wrong car. Get a Mustang and toss nitrous on it or some econo Japanese car for which there is a bunch of fast and furious nitro stuff already in existence for. If it is for some other reason let us know.

Can you get neon lights underneath the car too? That would be SOOOO cool! Because even though the middle of your car will be a smoking crater, it will be a cool looking smoking crater. All joking aside, its a horrible idea. You're driving an amazing piece of German engineering whose forte is the circle. Just because it doesn't have the straight line speed of some Japanese tuners etc. does not mean that it has to be 'juiced up' with two big silver bottles uglifying the luggage compartment. Enjoy it as it is. Sometimes we lose sight of its essence in our quest for that one extra horse. In doing so, we sometimes make rash decisions. It is my firm belief that a nitrous kit would be one of those rash decisions. Edited by - Bluestrike2 on 10/08/2006 4:07:10 PM

POST 7Original post

Bluestrike, I'm pretty sure they make your car faster too, especially if you pair em with a bolt-on super spoiler. -Suneet

POST 10Original post

6speedcayman, Aside from the a** ripping the other members gave you i am totally for it. I have been talking to a couple of different performance shops about doing this for the last month or so and i think its a great idea. I have had nitrous on top of turbos and superchargers on almost all of my cars and i figure why stop now. I for one absolutely love my Cayman and feel that a little juice would make me smile from ear to ear. I do agree with the comment that Bluestrike2 made about this being an amazing German sports car but what does that have to do with adding a little juice?? I have been on this forum for a few months now and i have come to conclusion that this group is extremely diverse in what we do with our Caymans . In one post someone asked the board to post there fastest speed.... Aside froma few members everyone else seems to dive these cars like grandmas Sundays grocery getter!! I think K-man should add a racers only section or a 'men that don't wear skirts' sectionso the performance driven members here can converse with out being mocked with BS like adding neon lights. I would go to the absolute extreme to get every HP out of any of my cars and I'm completely willing to pay the consequences as i have many times. There is no limit to what one can do to there car. TAKE YOU PANTIES OFF GUYS!!!

POST 11Original post

Interesting. So I assume you've already done the Farnbacher Loles or 9ff 3.8L engine swap/upgrade?

Be reasonable and evaluate 'Return on investment' I said i am willing to go to the absolute extreme to get every HP out of my cars right??? YES and yes i am BUT I'm not a rash person and i certainly didn't get were i am now by wasting money. I grantee that with the mods I already have on my car if i added a nitrous kit or a costom turbo (which will happen)not only will i have saved thousands of dollars and have gotten more HP i could sleep with myself at night for not spending $55,000 on an 3.8 for 50 more HP then i already have. I'm not saying the Limited Edition GTR 3.8 isn't a amazing car but be real and tell me if you can justify spending that kind of money for that kind of performance gain (not looks or handling) but straight performance.

POST 13Original post

Could I justify spending that kind of money? Well, no. But then again, I'm not the one who's willing to 'go to the absolute extreme to get every HP out of my cars'. Apparently you aren't either, or you should rephrase your original statement to say 'I am willing to go to the absolute extreme to get every HP out of my cars as long as it'sless than $56450 or I deemreasonable.' Sorry, but 'absolute extreme' shouldn't come with conditions like that. If you're not willing to go the Farnbacher Loles route, you can always do the 9ff or Eurocar Boutique engine swap or TechArt 3.8L engine conversion to 420hp by increasing the stroke. These options are considerably less than the $56k that Farnbacher charges. The point of my post is, if you're going to go around calling out people on this forum as 'girly men' who are afraid to max out their Caymans, and also claim to 'go to the absolute extreme' to eke out every last bit of HP from your car, you should have the cojonesto back up your claims with some evidence- which, apparently, youcurrentlydon't have.

The Mona Lisa is really an outstanding work of art. But if I owned it, I would have my girlfriend's eyes painted over the existing ones, as then the painting would be more trendy, prettier perhaps, but at least more like the other girl's photos. You guys should stop breathing that nitrous ...

POST 15Original post

Incorrect. My Cayman is onlyone my cars and i haven't finished turning it into what i want yet. I have other cars that i have have done everything imaginable and have done it in the matter of return on investment. Good exacmple.... My cobra. Kenny Bell Supercharger 20lbs of boost $3,000.00. 150HP of nitrous $1,000.00. Dual core inter-cooler $450.00. 875HP for $4,500.Now tell tell methat 50 grand for a 3.8 400hp at the crank motoris rational??But thats not going to stop me to pursue to max out my cayman . I haven't figured out what route I'm going to go yet but i assure i will. To back up my post my point is there are a number of members here who snub there noses at people who want to do something that may not seem rational to you/them but perfectly sain to me/them. If your fine driving a stock Cayman or any other car thats cool and great for you. But if your anything like me I have a saying that apllies................. 'Anything but stock'

POST 16Original post

I think the point is that nitrous is transitory , here today gone tomorrow, or at least until the bottle is used up. Whats the point. A turbo, supercharger or, exhaust/header/intake mods provide power all the time. That works on the track or street constantly. Nitrous is not practical for the track other than the dragstrip. Your money of course, and you are certainly entitled to spend it as you like, but K-Man S got it right, buy a Mustang for that type of thing. It's analogous to putting 24's on the Cayman . Wrong application.

POST 17Original post

Fair enough. However, 'going to the absolute extreme' would include spending any amount of money, would it not? I'd call spending $50K for a 400hp engine pretty extreme. Whether it's rational is a purely personal decision. Just look at your own quote below: 'people who want to do something that may not seem rational to you/them but perfectly sain (sic) to me/them'. Again - all I'm saying is that if you're going to go to absolute extremes to mod the heck out of your car, then money should be no object. My original question still applies: 'Why?' Like you said, what may be rational or appropriate for one may not be for another. All we know is that the original poster is asking about installing nitrous - he gave NO information about what he wants to install it for. To be quite honest, boosting your engine's power or installing a nitrous system without knowing exactly WHY your doing this except to look like a bigshot in your own mind is one of the most irrational things you can do. So to recommend that the OP go ahead and do it without any other information is, IMO, doing the OP a disservice. Nitrous may make perfect sense to you, but obviously it doesn't for most people. And to judge others as 'men who wear panties' just because you happen to disagree with them is hardly a mature thing to do.

POST 19Original post

Guys let's keep it civil here you can have strong opinions without innuendos and name calling...

POST 20Original post

I don’t agree at all. I’ve had nitrous on two race bikes, an Aston DB9 (which livened it up nicely) abs even my Cayenne turbo. You guys are on the dark ages. Nitrous is now sophisticated, utterly controllable and absolutely the most fun and dramatic way to go. I’m just in the market now for a Cayman . so all the rest of those wanting more power will mess about fitting headers and GT3 throttle bodies for 5 HP here ans 10 HP there. I’m going for a two stage fry kit. 35 bhp at 3,000 rpm and 60% throttle with a 50 shot higher up. Kits now a-days can vary power so you can tune for the situation on the fly with the box controller. Those that naysay, while you are welcome to your opinions, have you ever tried Noz? There’s nothing more fun than that two stage hit.

POST 21Original post

I struggle to make sense of the naysayers here. Firstly I can guarantee you’ve never dabbled with modern noz because you’d think differently I’m pretty sure. The bottom line surely has to be that all motor mods are trying to do is improve the efficiency of an air pump. More oxygen and then more fuel. So what’s the difference between a twin turbo, single turbo, supercharger or noz? Or any other mod like bigger inlet etc. All designed to do the same thing. Except with noz it’s done cheaper, the most effective and least invasive, most tuneable. And to those novices here, modern noz is not just for muscle cars and drag strips. That’s purely narrow minded in my opinion. You get more flexibility and control than with any other forced induction on the market.
