Hello all, thought I would drop in and introduce myself. Long time car guy that's lost his way over the years with a business, corporate job, family, etc. Sold my last fun car about 10yrs ago. It was a mutant 240Z stuffed with a 400hp Ford V8. Yes, I own a plasma cutter and a welder But my days of taking cars apart and putting them back together are behind me. A weekend project is fun, months long, not so much. Last Porsche I had was a 951 that I had done the typical bolt on's to. Loved that car, but needed more power. I just sold my little business and it's time to get back into something fast & furious with some of the proceeds. You noticed I said 'little business' so I am indeed on a budget. (just buying a house and in the middle of a complete remodel has shaved a few bucks off my budget as well) As I pondered the options I realized that I really just need to get a 911 and be done with shopping. After looking around the choice that makes sense to me is the 996tt, affordable, tunable, lots of aftermarket support. Any sage words of advice are welcome. So as I surf the forums, doing my due diligence to learn about this generation, bear with me if I ask a silly question. I have already found some great threads which will serve me well as I look for a ride. Cheers

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Welcome! Good luck with the search, get a PPI done and i'm sure you'll be fine
Good luck - hopefully you've introduced yourself on the 996TT forum as well.
Welcome! You're in the same boat as I, except for the tt part.
I am a strange bread, but I love my N/A porsche over the turbo. I'd rather drive a slower car fast than a fast car slow. My friend has a 996TT and myself and another friend have N/A 996's... we just get to go full throttle more around town and enjoy the car more without breaking too many laws. It's hard to explain, but my next car will be another N/A porsche.
Thanks for the welcomes. Certainly a different feel to a turbo car. I know my 951 had so much lag that you really had to keep the boost up to drive it smoothly. My mutant Z was N/A and had instant throttle response, but could overwhelm the tires any second. Can't go wrong either way. When I was getting track advice, (not that I'm a serious track rat) I was coached to drive lower HP cars first to gain the skills before trying anything with the kind of power that can get you into trouble. My problem at this point is I've had so many cars over the years, that if it doesn't scare the crap out of me, I'm not having fun.
Welcome Bach. I recently purchased a TT and LOVE it. I think it is safe to say you can easily crap your pants while breaking the law.
I've had both. Loved them both. Wish I still had both. 996tt is simply a better version of the NA996. But there is much truth in Vdub's comment
