Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

An advert for this 996 came up on Auto Trader Wednesday at £14,500 and by Thursday it was £16,750. Is it possible Brookspeed (Eastleigh) had a lot of calls on the first day? In one pic the sticker price was £14,250....

POST 2Original post

:dont know: Perhaps the original price put on the ad was a genuine typo' or maybe an admin person used the part-ex/buy in price off the paperwork instead of the retail price. Either way, what a pretty little car that is.

POST 3Original post

low miles, low ownership, nice spec - the 16,750 price seems more realistic than 14k,

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is isn't it, the (new) price isn't ridiculous either. There was a windscreen sticker price at £14,250 (not on the pics now) so I don't think it was a typo.

POST 5Original post

It might just give you a clue what you can negotiate down to! Would seem a bargain car at 14k if all checks out well  Keep in mind typically every 996 will at least cost you 20k though. Either to purchase or to purchase and fix up

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I've been getting that impression. The purchase price is just the down payment.....best get this one before the price goes up tomorrow

POST 7Original post

I would hazard a guess that sales put the car up for sale as soon as it turned up .. It then went through the workshop and with the odd brakes and suspension items needed they had to increase the price to cover that .. not uncommon

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, something like that. I just found it mildly amusing. Haven't come across it before. Would have been disappointing if you were just in the process of picking up the phone when the page refreshed....

POST 9Original post

I've just joined the forum having bought a 911 and came across this thread. This is the car that I bought! I can confirm that the price rise was due to a miscommunication between the owner and the company selling the car. I can't wait to pick it up - it'll give me something to do as Hampshire goes into tier 4!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Congratulations! Nice Christmas present to yourself. It did look nice in the pics.

POST 11Original post

Welcome to the forum , Brookspeed have a good rep locally so it would be a genuine thing as you say. enjoy the car when you get it, and if your ever around Bournemouth I will look out for you . :thumb: we are still able to drive freely down here as we are still in tier2 for now   :thumb:

POST 12Original post

Thanks, both. They guys at Brookspeed were great. I had viewed a lot around Hampshire and they were by far the most helpful. The car also comes with the reassurance of having had the bores scoped. I'll certainly be taking it on some nice trips to the beach when we're allowed. I might also take the car to shows when they're back on. I usually take my 205 GTI to all of the shows around Hampshire but I might give that a rest for the coming year. Does this forum ever arrange entries to local shows?

POST 13Original post

:welcome: to 911uk and to 911 ownership. As I said earlier in the thread - "Pretty car"

POST 14Original post

They do a few in a normal year , the biggest in the south is simply porsche at beaulieu motor museum in the summer also theres usually a group from here that do a 2/3/4 day tour across Europe to the porsche show in Dinslaken. there are also other coffee get togethers and things organised more informally by regional groups on here. as we get into early spring you will see things start to appear have a look in the meets section for the type of thing . in a normal non covid year the south central group on here are fairly active getting out and about . :thumb:
