Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can someone point me in the right direction for detecting this small oil leak? It's on the left hand side and shows just a few drinks over 24 hours.

POST 2Original post

To pinpoint it, you will have to give it a good clean, and then look again. But by looking at your picture, your leak might be coming from the tensioner. It has an o-ring an a crash washer that can fail over time. Aspecialy if the tensioner was removed in the past, and the two were not replaced with new ones.

POST 3Original post

There's a Variocam cover on the left side. You might check to see if the leak originates there ... I have a small leak that starts under that cover (a seal, I assume) and drips a small amount from the area you've indicated.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
