Hey guys, Heres the problem: When I am reversing out of a parking space, and cranking the wheel all the way over, I hear a knocking sound towards the back of the cars. Feels as if the tires are rubbing against something, and the car begins to jerk (resist). It does this when I turn the wheel either way. Car is completely stock. I took it to my local porsche dealer, and they said that it only does this on loose surfaces, and that it is completely normal. Anyone heard of this? Thanks!

I think you will find that it is quite normal for this time of year, especially when the tires are cold and hard. It IMHO it is the tire skipping, strange yes, normal, according to my local OPC.
could be... but it does it as well when I am on asphault too. And I live in Orange County CA, so its still warm here.
Probably normal and has been discussed quite a few times here. http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-complaints/9038-front-end-clunking.html But it also could be the power steering pump or some other issue so if it you want to be sure take it in to the dealer.
it happens to me too
I have a 2006 S and I have the same problem but the sound is coming from the front of the car. I swear it sounds and feels like my 4x4 Superduty when it is engaged in 4X4 and on a hard surface. When it first happend I could have sworn the card had a front axle and it was in 4 wheel drive and the front axle was binding. I haven't been able to figure out what it is but it has done it mostly when it is cold out. Next stop is the dealer to see what they say.
When you talk to the dealer you will first get the service writer who will probably tell you that it is normal and 99% of the time it is. If you feel it is a problem and ask for a tech to review it and they find nothing then it is up to the dealer to decide if they want to charge you for the time. You should clear that up before engaging the tech just to avoid any issues.
happens to me too, think its connected to steering while on the brakes. Was that your case? ________________________ "Sir! We're surrounded!" - "Excellent! We can shoot in any direction!" A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!
Im about to leave to go back to the dealer to pick it up. They told me that its normal only on loose surfaces. I think they are just saying anything to get me to pick up the car. Im paying $691 just for the 20K service
It has nothing to do with the surfaces but with how much strain is put on the power steering. Did you read the previous posts? They might help explain. I'm guessing you have no mechanical issue.
Had dealer look into it about a year ago. Especially when it is cold, powersteering is "struggling". This never happens when the temps are in 70s.
Phew... I just had this happen to me and I thought that I had something stuck in my tire again (2 blown tires in 5000). I looked at the tire and it is fine. Glad to hear that this is normal.
