Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

991.2 Turbo faster than GT3 RS around the Nurburgring by 5 seconds ?

POST 3Original post

Yet another example that supports my belief that the Ring strongly favors HP over handling.

POST 4Original post

Yes and no, Yes, there are lots of places where handling makes a difference, the problem is maybe your better handling car is eeking out .1 second here, .2 seconds there but when you hit that main long straight the high horsepower car makes up 5-10 seconds in a flash, so there are rewards for both, but certainly overall a well handling high horsepower car is going to come out on top vs a slightly better handling lower horsepower car. You need to look at Hockenheim or other smaller tracks where HP isn't king to get a more meaningful handling comparison, or even something like Laguna Seca where they analyze corner by corner and show you where each car is making up or losing time. Sadly just like Quarter Mile or 0-60 times, the Ring times are being abused as well by those who just like to quote numbers. (Not saying Hassaan is, just saying in general it is true)

POST 5Original post

Well said, Ken. The Ring is the benchmark for all sport cars manufacturers for a long time now. And despite the fact such records are beyond 99% of car owners from getting close to, it's a bragging right still. My instructor at Yas Marina's Porsche Driving School told me about such results. I didn't take him seriously then, honestly. But I remember h said, Porsche were not happy with such record for it did hit the RS team hard. And Porsche did their best to hide such numbers from the public. Would that affect the sales of the RS or turbo? Absolutely not. I have a turbo and drool on the RS in my dreams. Would my turbo beat an RS on the track? It already did more than once. It doesn't mean my car is better or I'm a pro. It meant to me that I'm more capable than the RS driver and I got to appreciate/respect my turbo more. We all drive cars far capable than ourselves. I'm currently targeting to work on my driving skills... very expensive hobby, but far cheaper than flipping cars that I don't get to explore its limits.
